YOUNG PHOTOGRAPHER

With the title of ‘Beauty of Nature’, the 2019 competition attracted some wonderful entries. Winners of each age group were entered in the District Heats, where two entrants were awarded second and third placings.

To all entrants, our judge, local photographer, Simon Futcher, offered a morning’s photographic workshop, based at the Park Hotel in Chichester. Here Simon discussed the key elements of an effective photograph, and the students had the opportunity to discuss their own work. There then followed a practical session in which the children were encouraged to consider some of the aspects Simon had suggested earlier.

Everyone felt it was a very worthwhile morning, and many of the young photographers are already keen to enter next year’s competition, for which the theme will be ‘Through My Eyes’.
