We are a very social club! Each year members compete in a number of inter-Rotary club events including:
Skittles: in 2017 our team (below) were the Rotary District Champions. The current team of 10 players have to date won their first three matches in this year's competition, all matches having being played at RCCH's 'home venue', namely the The Spur pub in Slindon. The team's most recent match against Storrington and Pulborough Rotary Club was particularly exciting, as after the first game our opponents were 7 points ahead, and then in the second game both teams scored equally so there was no change in the leader board. After taking a short break to have supper, RCCH found their aim in the third and final game, scoring 14 points more than their opponents, and winning by a margin of 7 points. It must have been something to do with the pub grub! 'Roll on' our next match!
STOP PRESS! On 5 March 2020, the intrepid members of the RCCH skittles team braved heavy rain, flooding, hidden potholes, and a fallen tree when driving to Ewhust in Surrey to bowl against a resolutely competitive team from Cranleigh Rotary Club for what turned out to be a closely fought match. Our team was a single point ahead after the first round; and after bowling for a second time, we increased our lead to 11 points. There was, however, no room for complacency, as in the third and final round the Cranleigh team rallied and we saw our lead gradually decrease. In the end it was up to our final bowler, team capain Neil, to hold his nerve and knock enough skittles down to take us to a 4-point lead overall. Exciting stuff! Thankfully by the time it came for us to drive home, the rain had (finally) stopped and local council workers were in the process of removing the fallen tree. RCCH's skittles team now progress to the semi-finals of the competition, and eagerly awaits news of where exactly in Sussex/Surrey the team will be venturing to for their next match.
