Fishing

‘The One That Got Away' - a tale of trying, and failing, to catch that fish of a lifetime!

Club member Eric Fraser gave a talk on his sporting passion of fly fishing. He recalled his first experience some 60 years ago of family fishing on the Spey and catching a trout which got away. Undaunted, a few years later at 13 years old he banked his first salmon on the Ness at Inverness. Marriage and raising a family with little time for angling but Eric, a Royal Navy officer, rekindled his love of angling when posted to the US and he recalled fishing in several states and also in Canada where he shared a river with grizzly bears! He said the great enjoyment of fly fishing came with testing your skills while being at one with nature.

Grace Morris proposed thanks for a most interesting talk which clearly showed Eric’s passion for the sport.
