The Kestrel Project - Trevor Harris

Tue, Dec 10th 2024 at 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Host - David Gray: Reception - George McIntosh; Payment - Iain Fraser

Trevor Harris gave a talk to Kilrymont Rotarians on the Kestrel Project at St Andrews Links.

A kestrel box was erected at the Castle Course in 2016 with the first chick reared there in 2018. The parent birds cover an exclusive hunting area up to 1km from the box location.

Trevor said that an upgraded camera kit was in place in 2020 which gave fantastic images of the kestrel chicks. In the last three years 17 chicks have fledged from the nesting box.

President Gordon Moir introduced Trevor and George McIntosh proposed a vote of thanks for Trevor’s excellent illustrated talk.
