Helen and Leesa from north-east Fife citizen advocacy charity Include Me gave a talk to Kilrymont Rotary.
Include Me provides a free independent advocacy service for people aged 16-65 who are affected by physical or learning disabilities, mental health issues, autism disorder or some other conditions. Helen outlined the group’s aims to support people who need help to safeguard their well-being, rights, care and other interests. She said that people referred to them are matched with volunteer Citizen Advocates and are called Advocacy Partners. Include Me is funded by Fife Health & Social Care Partnership and Helen and Leesa are part-time development workers who accept referrals and who recruit, train, match and support volunteers to become Citizen Advocates. The key to the success of an advocate is their independence. They are not employed by the NHS of Fife Council and they act to support their matched partner. The volunteers are carefully recruited and trained to match the needs and interests of a potential partner.Kilrymont president Gordon Moir introduced Helen and Leesa and Irene Walker proposed thanks for a most interesting and informative talk.
