A BRIEF HISTORY OF MUSICAL THEATRE
David Gray who spent part of working life in theatre management, gave a comprehensive talk on musical theatre from its beginnings in ancient Greece right up to the present day. He covered the influence of Gilbert and Sullivan in the 19th century through to greats of the mid 20th century including Rodgers and Hammerstein. David then highlighted the impact made by musician Andrew Lloyd Webber and impresario Cameron McIntosh, musical theatre icons from the late 60s onwards.
