Canongate Primary headteacher Patricia Shafron gave a talk to Kilrymont St Andrews Rotary Club on the school’s additional needs department.

Mrs Shafron said many of the 19 pupils in two classes had a diagnosis of some form of autism and several were non-verbal but communicated in other ways.
She outlined the special educational support given the youngsters who came from all parts of north-east Fife. Many combined help from the Canongate classes with mainstream education at their local primaries.

Mrs Shafron thanked the Rotary club for its financial assistance in providing an artificial grass area for the pupils.

George McIntosh thanked Mrs Shafron for her most interesting insight into the school’s tremendous help for the youngsters.
