The meeting which was on zoom, began with the induction of new member, David Gray introduced by Brian Gray (no relation). David has visited the club several times already and has met a number of the members.

President Mike then handed the meeting over to Forbes Lockhart to chair an alternative version of the popular TV show “Would I Lie To You?”  Members had been asked to send Forbes stories in advance and Forbes assigned three members to quiz each story teller to determine whether it was true or false.

The stories covered a variety of scenarios - Graces’ encounter with a dancing bear at a circus: David G throwing a glass of orange juice over a passenger on a flight approaching Heathrow; Isobel’s hand trapped by the lid of the truck of a Lincoln Continental in a car park in New Mexico;  Angus assisting at the birth of a calf, then Mike's story about getting a Mohican haircut to impress a girl; Ian B’s encounter with the wife of the Senior doctor in the medical practice he hoped to join, then Iain M's claim to have beaten the ”Golden Bear” himself (Jack Nicklaus) on the golf course and finally Mike again and his sorry story of disrupting a musical number as a stage hand.

The questioning was rigorous, there were plenty of laughs and comments and a few surprising “liars” and some strange true stories.

An entertaining evening all round – and thanks to Forbes for his organisation of the proceedings.
