Almost 70 members and friends enjoyed a great evening at Shimla Cottage in Bridge of Weir to recognise World Polio Day. Everyone wore something purple - the colour of ink used on a childrens' fingers to confirm that they have been immunised. Rotary has played a major worldwide role in in trying to rid the planet of this terrible disease, and the main photo shows everyone indicating that we are "this close" to achieving that objective.
Shimla Cottage generously donated the star prize in the raffle ( won by Liz Fairbairn, seen receiving her 'Meal for 2' voucher from Tabi Shafiq) and the evening raised almost 1000. Bill Gates is commited to adding double to every which Rotary can raise, so the evening yielded the impressive sum of almost 3000 for the final push towards eradication.
