Antique Valuation Day

success !! Approximately £3000 raised for charity

The Rotary Clubs of Burntisland & Kinghorn and Inverkeithing & Dalgety Bay joined forces on Tuesday the 17th February to hold the most amazing Antique Valuation Day at the Forth view Parish Church at Dalgety. Joining us for the day was the professional team from The Great Western Auctions Ltd who gave up their valuable time to oversee the day. A huge thank you to the team: Anita Manning, Paul Howard, Claire Godwyn, Jo Godwyn, Tommy Alexander, Ruairi Barfoot, and Dr Chris Brickley. Their knowledge, enthusiasm, and generosity made the day something truly special.

From the beginning of the day until the end, the sun shone and the excitement was with us as some 215 people came through the doors with their long forgotten treasures. The public filed into the hall to take their seats and await the call from the auctioneer team to come up and have their items valued. Before that happened, television famous Anita Manning, seen on Flog it opened the Event with a brilliant talk about Rotary and the charities the Clubs were supporting with money raised that day. Anita encouraged the members of the public present to take advantage of the raffle.

The valuation team worked tirelessly from 10 until 3pm to make sure that no one left without being seen. Out of 215 clients they saw, 39 of the clients were given estimates ranging from £100 up to £6000, and many clients were interested in a home visit in due course.  Thank you guys, you are so special and helped to make the day run smoothly with nothing being too much bother.

The Raffle was a great success and all winners have been notified, there was also an extra prize as Anita had donated a beautiful necklace, thank you Anita.

Huge thanks must go to the two Rotary Clubs Inverkeithing & Dalgety Bay and Burntisland and Kinghorn for the splendid way they planned the day that allowed it to run smoothly, not an easy job with the car park and halls packed. We would like to thank Forth view Parish Church at Dalgety for allowing us to host the event, the ladies who served coffee and teas on the day, and all those who helped to make the day such a success.

All of this would not have been possible without the members of the communities who came along and took part, bringing with them their treasurers to have valued, it was a bit like the TV series Antique Road show with everyone wondering what was in the bags and boxes they were carrying. We thank you for coming along and making the day such a success and helping to make a difference to two amazing charities.

Charities to benefit:

FRASAC: Fife Rape and Sexual Assault Centre.

STAND: striving towards a New Day, living a Good Life with Dementia.

The climax to the day was finding out that we had made £3,000 for our nominated charities.
