more The unmissable annual talent auction at which members 'sell' their talents to each other in return for donations to Club funds. The event raised a wonderful £1705, and Big Frank added a further £140 to complete the £1000 needed for our Ghana Sand Dam.
more Nine Club members and relatives went to the splendid Leeds Grand Theatre to see Agatha Christie's world famous play. A great pre-event curry at Akbar's was followed by a splendid 'whodunit' with shoals of red herrings. Thanks to Ian for arranging this.
more Ian led us on a splendid historical walk around Huddersfield, featuring (of course !) several notable historic pubs including the famous 'Head of Steam' at the station. Day was rounded off with a spicy curry at Lala's for the curryholics.
more Many club members enjoyed a great charity concert by the excellent U3A choir at the new Horizon theatre. Our own Betty Hirst was in fine voice, and the event raised a lot of money for Leukaemia Research and Bluebell Wood.
more Yorkshire versus Nottinghamshire at Headingley, Leeds. 20-20 is fast and furious with lots of big hitting, quite unlike 3 day cricket, so this should be fun. Optional curry at the mighty Akbar's afterwards.
more Many thanks to Bill Gaunt for organising this visit to the home of early cave dwelling humans, some 13,000 years ago. It is hard to believe that these ancient people were the same as us, but 13,000 years is a long time !
more Back by popular demand and with a revised route, this is a saunter through the historical Leeds City Centre with visits to several heritage pubs and an optional curry to follow. Leeds has more listed buildings than York !!
more The Club's unmissable Royal Ascot themed annual fundraiser for the Barnaley Hospice, starring Honest Bill the Punter's Pal. At John Love's house in Barnsley Old Town. The picture shows two of our 'dolled up' girls in a previous year.
back Stainborough is a friendly club with lots of well supported events throughout the year. Some are 'just for fun', whilst others raise money for good causes at the same time.
