Mercy Ships

Our speaker last night was Peter Montgomery who spoke eloquently about Mercy ships. We have donated £200.00 towards this amazing charity. Please see Peter’s response to me this morning.......... If I can be of any service in the future please give me a shout Peter........Mercy Ships is a faith-based international development organisation that deploys hospital ships to some of the poorest countries in the world, delivering vital, free healthcare to people in desperate need. As well as completing thousands of urgent operations onboard its “floating hospital”, the Africa Mercy, the charity’s volunteers also work closely with host nations to improve the way healthcare is delivered across the country, by training and mentoring local medical staff, and renovating hospitals and clinics. Founded in 1978 by Don and Deyon Stephens, Mercy Ships has worked in more than 55 countries, providing services valued at more than £1 billion. By improving healthcare delivery in every country it visits, Mercy Ships is working to eradicate diseases of poverty. Mercy Ships follows the 2,000-yearold model of Jesus by “bringing hope and healing to the forgotten poor”, helping people of all faiths and none. Mercy Ships UK (a key member of the Mercy Ships global partnership) was founded in 1996. The transformation of individuals’ lives and improvements to health provision in the nations where Mercy Ships has worked over the past 21 years would not have come to life without the generosity of the UK public, companies and volunteers
