Making a difference in Ghana

President Richard's trip to Ghana with Ghana Outlook

24/10/2018

Thank you Stainborough Rotary Club who fund one tractor. Meeting today with some of the 50 ladies of Loggu. Ghana Outlook provides tractor services to plough their land which before the tractor was dug by hand, which resulted in very little yield. Each lady has between one and two acres. They told us that the Ghana Outlook tractor, has increased their crop yield and were very happy with the service the tractor provided. They can now feed their family comfortably and even able to sell some of their crops. How do they use their income? They said it helps pay for their children's education. All though education is free they can buy pens and paper and uniforms. This is just one of 33 communities where the two tractor services are provided by Ghana Outlook.

These two aqua filter boxes provided by Ghana Outlook are making a difference to these two schools. Each having a capacity of over 400 children. Children are designated the day before to fetch water from the stream before start of school the next day. This dirty water is then filtered via the aqua filter and made good to drink. Talking to the staff and pupils today it was very obvious how much they appreciate access to clean and safe water. Each filter costs about £250.00 and will provide over a million litres of safe water. If possible Ghana Outlook will provide a water borehole in the long term and move the filter on.

"Please can we have some desks" said the teachers. "We will make them if you could provide the wood and nails." They need 400 for this school.Ghana Outlook are searching and looking at various options to fund the desks but they need help. The teachers are amazing working with limited facilities and stationery. They love their job but as you can see it is very difficult as the community is very far into the bush away from the town. The school covers various age groups.

The first Sand Dam in Ghana. A big success. Safe water now availble from the well even in the dry season and water to help crops grow. The community of Kpoalalogu are delighted and we hope our donors are too, the two Rotary Clubs of Stainborough and Scarborough Calvaliers and personal contributors and supporters. Thank you. Ghana Outlook.

Thank you Rotary. the children of Nibawie don't know you, but they thank you. Ghana Outlook
