Stainborough Rotary Club has donated hundreds of books to Oakhill Primary Academy as part of Rotary’s Impact Days Books4Home Scheme.
The Books4Home initiative aims to give every child a free book of their own to take home and keep, encouraging a lifelong love of reading with family and friends while supporting schools’ literacy programmes. By reusing good-quality pre-read books, the scheme also promotes environmental sustainability through recycling and reuse.
The books were presented to the school on Thursday, 18 June, and were received by Mrs Caroline Tinney and Head teacher Joanne Gibbons along with pupils Pippa, Cooper, Leeward and Tania. The students enthusiastically helped distribute the books to classrooms throughout the school, ensuring that every child had the opportunity to choose a book to enjoy at home.
Stainborough Rotary is proud to support literacy initiatives within the local community and hopes that the donated books will inspire many young readers for years to come.
