Telford Centre Rotary Club Marks World Polio Day on Friday 24th October 2025
As part of a series of events to promote the work of Rotary Clubs around the region Telford Plaza was lit up in purple.
John Elgin President of Telford Centre Rotary Club was delighted to announce that Telford Plaza were once again supporting the promotion of the work done by Rotary Clubs around the world in the fight to eliminate once and for all the scourge of polio.
Rotarian Nick Burn of Telford Centre Rotary Club, thanked Telford Plaza for its support and in particular Mel Podmore for making sure the Plaza was lit up.
He said “Telford Plaza is a highly valued supporter of our Club and many local good causes and it is my pleasure to thank them once again for the support they have provided over the years.”
He went on to say “Because polio has been eliminated in the UK most people are unaware of the condition but the NHS must continue to spend millions on polio vaccination as a precaution as must all developed countries. If eradication can be achieved these funds can be diverted to other disease prevention or treatment programmes”.
The management of Telford Plaza said how important it was for spread wider awareness of polio and the continuing threat it presents, acknowledging the great success of the Rotary campaign.
