The presentation began with a lively and entertaining film produced on the visit and showing the joy and enthusiasm generated by the group of pupils and teachers. The girls spent 2 days in the classroom working alongside pupils and helping them particularly with their maths. They took an exercise book for every child in the school, the only books they would have for that year. Every item was received with enormous gratitude even something seemingly as trivial as a pencil.
Outside the classroom the group earned a worthy draw 1-1 at football and also had the opportunity to see the local village and the homes in which the pupils lived.
Finally the pupils answered a range of questions in a confident and amusing manner. These covered what they had gained from the visit, how the partnership helped the school and what life was like for the Ndungu Kebbeh pupils. They also expanded on the mystery of the bat inhabiting what could best be described as spartan toilets.
Bill Kerr thanked the visitors on behalf of the Club and presented them with a cheque in support of this exciting and extremely worthwhile partnership.
more Our first foray into the Scootathon arena failed to ignite but thanks to the initiative of St. Margaret's, Horsforth staff all 440 school pupils earned their very own gold medals. Each pupil completed a triathlon of hula hooping, skipping and scootering.
