President's Handover BBQ at Horsforth Golf Club 25th June

Thu, Jun 25th 2026 at 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm

Aireborough Rotary's third female President Alicia Ridout has handed over the Chain of Office to President Elect Mark Whitfield at a Special Barbecue

The first Barbecue at Horsforth Golf Club was a great success as the menu below shows.

President Alicia summarised her year which had seen a range of events which have become our main fundraisers: the Easter Egg Hunt in conjunction with Rodley Nature Reserve, the Band Concert where the Town Hall was fuller than it has been for several years and the Beer Festival with our partners Guiseley Theatre and Rwaron St Peters Parish Church. New to the calendar this year was the Ceilidh which has been immediately rebooked for the new Rotary year. The solid support of Club members filling rotas for every occasion received her particular praise as did our suport for her chosen charity Leeds Carers.

Running throughout the evening was a picture show prepared by Alicia of Rotary Year 2025/26 which also included Christmas Lights openings at Yeadon, Rawdon Library and Guiseley as well as the Christmas collection at Morrisons Yeadon.

Incoming President Mark Whitfield who has already played a stirring role substituting at weekly meetings had also had the opportunity to listen and learn from Incoming District Governor David Hartley who appeared out of the blue as a volunteer at the Aireborough Beer Festival. The content of all Club Leaders presentations at the recent Club Assembly had been highly praised by a visiting Assistant Governor and prepared an excellent outline for the coming year - concentration on membership, successful existing and wherever possible new events and the element of fun and camaraderie implicit in all Club meetings and any other occasion when members came together.

Horsforth Golf Club's Summer BBQ menu comprised:

Prime Beef Burger in a Brioche Bun,

Tandoori Chicken Thighs,

Spicy Lamb Kofta Kebabs with a Mint Yoghurt Dip,

Cumberland Sausage with an Apple Cider Chutney

Citrus Chicken Breast Scallop

Prawn and Garlic Papiots and Roasted Vegetable Papiots

, Sides will include: Roasted Garlic and Rosemary New Potatoes, Cardamon Rice, Waldorf Salad, Mac and Cheese, Tomato and Red Onion Salad, Fried Onions and a Mixed leaf Salad Bowl

There will also be a dessert

Cost £26 per person
