Rotary Children's Garden Festival 2007

The great British weather once again conspired against us as we held the second Rotary Children's Garden Festival in Alexandra Park on Friday 13th July 2007 (maybe 13th was unlucky after all?). The incessant rain did little to dampen the spirits of the kids as their showed off the fruits of their green-fingered labours to the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Cllr. Glyn Evans and other local dignitaries.

The imagination of the children was simply wonderful with one entry entitled "Bedding Plants" being displayed on the carcass of an actual wooden bed.

The afternoon also had a display of the LifeStraw by Past Club President Andrew Goodliffe. The LifStraw is a personal water filtration device capable of filtering enough water to keep the average human being going for a year. Several LifeStraws are included in every Rotary LifeBox sent to disaster areas around the globe.
