End Polio Now

Rotary's number one priority - ridding the world of the scourge of polio. It's been a long hard struggle, but we're now on the verge of eliminating this disease forever.

We are this close to beating polio

End Polio Now

For nearly 25 years, Rotary has been working to eradicate polio worldwide. During that time, the vast majority of countries have been declared polio-free, and it now only occurs in two areas of the world - west Africa (particularly northern Nigeria), and Afghanistan/Pakistan/India.

Rotary clubs across the world are committed to raising funds to support the final push to eradicate the disease altogether, assisted by matching funding from the Gates Foundation.

Recent fundraising events organised by Manchester Breakfast include an Africa night, an Abba night, and a James Bond Cocktail evening.
Members of the club have also been out to India on several occasions, to take part in Sub-National Immunisation Days.  A recent trip, in February 2012, was covered by the BBC and featured on the Breakfast News and main evening news reports
