Welma Robinson joined Rotary in 2009 as a founder member of Furness Peninsula Rotary becoming President in 2012/13 a role I reprised in 2019/20. I have chaired Foundation/International Service since 2013/14 and became Treasurer in 2015/16. At District level, I joined the Foundation Committee, became District Grant Coordinator in 2014/15 and Team Leader of International Services in 2017/18.
During the last 11 years Rotary became part of daily life building strong relationships and affording me the opportunity to help those less fortunate than myself.
A varied career includes car sales, property leasing and finally as senior manager at Furness Enterprise, an economic development agency, where I led on new start, micro businesses and social enterprise. In 2008, I was a speaker at the Symposium for Entrepreneurship Education in Europe held in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Personal
I live with my partner of 19 years Rotarian John McGill in the historic town of Dalton in Furness on the edge of the Lake District. We are regular attendees at the RSC in Stratford and our travels have included Europe, South Africa, Namibia and India. The latter was a life changing experience as we were part of the Rotary Polio National Immunisation Days.
