A small Therapy Through Nature group has been started at Havens Hospice and members have decided that they wish to develop their interests in gardening.
To facilitate this, they require wheel- chair accessible troughs in which they can grow their flowers and vegetables. A group of members of the Rotary Club of Thorpe Bay, always committed to doing as much as they can to improve the lives of others, spent several wet afternoons creating three raised troughs from recycled wooden crates.
This is not the end, however, but rather the beginning and more raised toughs are required.
Further workshops were planned and the composter was created. The completed troughs and composter along with the water butts purchased by the Rotary Club were officially handed over on Monday October 4th. Receiving these much- appreciated additions to the facilities offered at Havens Hospices Community Officer of Thorpe Bay Rotary Club Pam Watson-Jones said: Members were really pleased to be working together to create something that would brighten the lives of those spending time in the hospice. This is what Rotary is about! Improving the lives of others. We know there is still much to do and planned are already afoot for the next project!
