Club helps with new facility

People with sight and/or dementia issues will benefit

For many years Ostley House has been known as a home for blind people in the Furness area. In recent years people with dementia have also been given support at the facility, which is run by Vision Support Barrow & District.

A major fundraising drive to install a fire lift that takes a stretcher came to a conclusion recently with the official opening of the facility.

For many years Alan Todd, one of our past presidents, was treasurer of the local Blind Society, and was in at the planning stage for the lift. Sadly Alan died before he had a chance to see the finished article, but his memory lives on with a plaque which is displayed in the home.

The Rotary Club of Furness was proud to be able to help out financially towards this very useful and valuable aid.
