Islanders Dance Troupe

Joanne and Danielle from the "Islanders Dance Troupe" recently visited Furness Rotary to tell members and guests of the aims and objectives of the group.  

In addition to being an established dance troupe, taking part in competitions throughout the North-West, the group tries to help needy local people, which gives them a sense of community, helping those less fortunate in the local community. 

Nobody is turned away, and the club does a lot fundraising to help members who would otherwise not be able to join. The Rotary Club of Furness recently helped them with a donation.

Unfortunately at one stage, the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic and the lockdown measures impacted on the Troupe's ability to continue, with no income from dance shows and a reduction in membership numbers (down by 50%).

Despite this the group continued offering food parcels to families. They also offered dance lessons across 3 venues in a covid secure manner supporting 72 young people to remain physical active. Now due to the funding received, the Islanders can continue to operate and work in local communities ensuring young people stay active, although they still need to raise money, and are a group well worthy of support.
