There are three rotary clubs in Barrow; Furness, Furness Peninsula, and Barrow-in-Furness.
Last year they joined together with other volunteers to form a group of around 130 people to help medics to deliver around 95,000 covid vaccines to people in the town.
The project would not have been as successful as it was without the organisational skills of Peter Garwood from the Rotary Club of Furness, who spent countless hours compiling rotas of volunteers several times a week, as well as being present at the Alfred Barrow Health Centre nearly every day of the campaign, making sure that everything ran smoothly.
It was therefore fitting that he received the award together with Furness Club honorary member Natalie Chapples who also played a major role in the initiative.
