Members of Hawcoat Park Sports Club have agreed to provide supervised TARGET SHOOTING followed by buffet, £12.00 per head see the list in our book.
We had a great turn out with several guests also taking part (hope they enjoyed the evening) - we were initially entertained in the swish bar they have - a couple of large tv's for those wanting to keep upto date with the latest sport.
As well as the usual drinks, a large variety of coffees were also on tap.
We seperated into two groups of about 15 and descended to the ground floor and a door at the rear of the building which gave access to the range.
The rifle shooting guys gave us a safety briefing and told us what we could and could not do. Then wetook our positions (4 at a time) and having had our rifles loaded and although warned of the hair triggers still managed to send off a shot whilst getting comfortable - 10 shots each, I started by hitting (I think) target 1 instead of target 2. All I could see was a blur until I was told I was too close to the telescopic sight - when I moved my chin back along the rifle butt all the target came into sharp focus ! Trying to keep the thing steady was the hardest bit - then I remembered the sniper routine of breathing slowly and holding your breathe before firing - that didn't work either. Just carried on with a wobbly rifle but did manage to get all my shots (but one) on target.
We finished off with a super buffet which the Bob In had provided - another super Out Meeting, thanks Tony Clarke, Hawcoat Sports Club and Club Service.
