Robyn Halcrow from Dowdales represented both our club and district at the National final of Young Chef 2015 and was amongst 7 other finalists from across the UK. From an initial 6500 contestants who entered the competition Robyn sailed in to the last 8 which is a massive achievement in its self.
The overall competition was won by the only male, Lewis Wilson age 15 representing the Rotary Club of Horsham who prepared three excellent courses of food, however, it must be said that all of the food on display was of exceptional standard and I am glad I did not have to judge it.
There appeared to be great rivalry between some of the clubs and they were nit picking at everything, it was just as well the competitors could not hear them.
Robyn, as usual prepared an excellent meal and should be extremely proud of herself, unfortunately we didn’t get a taste this time but going on past experience I am sure it was great.
Robyn was supported by her parents, Louisa Gibson her mentor and 4 members from the club who enjoyed a great day.
Robyn, her parents and Louisa from Dowdales have been invited to the club at a date yet to be determined.
My most sincere thanks go to all those who supported Robyn and we wish her well for her future (which I understand is not in the catering industry – Robyn wants to be a Vet).
My thanks go to Louisa for supporting the event and I hope we go on to as much success in 2016.
