Ulverston Beer Festival 2006

For our August out meeting we had to adjust our meeting day to be able to visit en-mas the beer festival at Ulverston where the local CAMRA branch had 63 different beers, many from breweries in the locality! They also had increased their range of ciders and perrys to 18 or so this year.

After collecting our glasses, graduated in pint, half and third measures we started to attack the mountain of brews, President Bill was scientific (he had a pencil) and covered his program in taste notes, some of the others just covered their's in spilt beer.

President elect Jim quickly discerned that his favourite was K9 from Barngates Brewery and encouraged everyone to try the tipple. Soon it was clear why the glasses had so many graduations as we dropped down to thirds to ensure we were able to taste the many ales on offer.

We retired to Miller's Restaurant and Bar for a pleasant supper topped off with more ale or red wine.

Lawrence proudly announced that their first grandchild ( a little girl) had just been born, a lovely way to top off a splendid night.
