Another great OUT MEETING - assembled on Roa Island, we looked for the ferry, it was only when some of us went down onto the pier that the ferry man, saw us (he was waiting in Piel Bight on his cat) - the ferry only takes 12 so the first boat load went over just after 6 and by about 6:30 we were all admiring the view from the front door of the pub with a pint in hand. We then had a collection, first for the ferry and then for the supper after that we were summond to the castle where President Russell inducted Richard inot our club.
We had two visitors, Hon Member Dave Cooksey and his club's secretary, Ron Duxbury - after the induction - it was breezy but pleasantly warm we then wandered back to the pub where supper was served at 7:30.
We had an excellent pork supper, the pork being supplied by their very own pig ! Followed by (for us gannets) rhubarb and custard or sticky toffee pud.
Frank conducted the Foundation Draw, winner was Bill Pennick and all to soon Russell had to propose the final toast as we scuttled off to the ferry for the return trip at 9:00 pm - last boat home was 9:30 !
A pleasant evening on a beautyful island in great company - magic !
