The 2026 Tour de Furness charity cycle ride presentations took place on Wednesday 7th October at the Crossbar at Barrow Association Football Club on Wilkie Road.
This year’s ride was based at Furness Academy in Barrow, from where the riders started and finished.
Almost 120 riders pedalled around one of the four courses - 14 miles, 28 miles, 53 miles or 74 miles.
This year, the riders covered the same distance as Barrow to Los Angeles!
The presentations were hosted by Bryan Boyd, chair of the TDF committee.
Awards and charity donations were presented to individuals and teams who raised the most money for charity.
Trophies were awarded in three categories; individual juniors under 16, individual seniors over 16, and the team winners who were also presented with the coveted Bill Bartlett trophy.
As always, the main recipient of the charitable funding from the cycle ride is St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston and it gave the event organisers great pleasure to donate £7,000 to the charity as a result of the ride.
Picture shows Heidi Bowron from the Hospice being presented with the cheque by Club President Peter Garwood (r) and TDF lead Brian Boyd (l).
After the awards ceremony, 70 or so guests including winners, sponsors, exhibitors, invited guests and Rotary club members enjoyed a buffet.
The flexibility of Barrow football ground’s floodlights was highlighted by a visual light show on the AFC pitch.
The host thanked everyone for their contribution to this year’s TDF including sponsors, supporters and riders who were involved, at any level, in the cycle ride.
Here's to next year!
Entries on the TDF website will be open from January !st 2027.
