(Beneficiaries not present Community Transport, St Basils, Wyre Forest Food Bank, Bewdley Interact, Wyre Forest Rotaract)
This was the fourth year of our Charity Golf Event raising funds for local charities and good causes. This year £5,900 was raised and the majority of beneficiaries were represented at our Presentation Evening on 28th October.
Our beneficiaries are chosen by being local and not being recipients of government funding but who rely on donations, like ours, and proceeds from other fund raising events to survive, especially in today’s climate. We are very grateful to our regular hole sponsors who again responded well. We lost two but gained ten new ones, which was amazing.
Once again, the raffle held over the weekend was run within Covid rules and was a great success raising just over £1,000. This was down to the hard work of a few individuals. Annie Hill, the organiser, who collected prizes, ably assisted by Ilse Stride. Then both of them selling tickets for almost eight hours a day over the weekend with welcome lunchtime relief from Margaret Rees & Elaine Spohrer. A Big thank you to them all.
Well done and thanks also to the team running the ‘Putting for a Bottle’ which raised £260.
The event could not happen if it weren’t for the Directors and Staff of Bewdley Pines for their invaluable help and support not only over the weekend but also in the build up. A special mention to Matt for his help and guidance and to Directors Carol & Kevin for their enthusiasm and encouragement.
It was really pleasing to see, as our guests, Michael & Chloe Smout representing T.G. Group’s local branch, TG Hardwicks in Wolverley, who not only sponsor our golf event, but supply the transport for the Christmas tree which we supply and erect each year in Bewdley.
This event and the money it generates would not happen but for the stalwart efforts of Bob and Annie Hill. Thank you to both from all beneficiaries and the members of Bewdley Rotary.
