2025-2026 Young Music Competition
Well done to Mia Wright, here receiving her certificate as Dorchester Young Rotary Musician of the Year from Rachel Wilson, president.
Congratulations to clarinettist Mia Wright (Year 13 student at the Thomas Hardye School) on becoming the Dorchester and District Rotary Young Musician for 2026.
Mia was one of over 100 young musicians who took part in the Dorchester Young Musician Festival in November 2025, which was run as a collaboration between Wessex Schools Music & Dorchester Casterbridge Rotary. The daytime festival was open to young people of all ages and abilities and around 20 young people were highly commended at the event and invited to then perform at an evening concert for the public. Mia was later selected from that group of performers to go forward to represent the Dorchester area at the regional final.
Mia now participates in the next round of the National Rotary Competition in Taunton on March 8th, the winner of which is only two steps away from the National Final.
