Wirral Hedge & Tree Planting

When a call went out across Wirral for sites, private and public, on which to plant suitable native trees, Poulton Hall stepped forward.  Tree whips fostered by many Wirral residents over the past year were gathered in and delivered to Poulton Hall in a great community project, overseen by the Wirral Tree Wardens. Rotarians were delighted to be involved in planting the whips, albeit restricted to working in pairs to comply with current Covid rules.  500 whips were planted, mainly hornbeam and beech, but with a few other native species.  These should result in a great mixed hedgerow over the coming years and a haven for wildlife.

Surplus whips have now been taken over to a community planting project in Bidston where another good location awaits.
