We are an evening club meeting every Monday evening. We have an interesting and varied programme which includes guest speakers, social activities and outings.
For us, Rotary is about enjoying ourselves whilst enriching the life of others. Our members come from all walks of life, some working, some retired. We all very much enjoy a personal sense of fulfilment in being part of a vibrant club making a big difference and, as such, we are always looking for people of all ages, and from all walks of life to join our club to contribute their energy, talents, and professional skills to make a real difference to the lives of others.
The enormous sense of achievement you will experience in helping your local community and others around the world will be matched only by the fun you will have doing it!
Currently our membership is about 35 members and there is always room for more!
Above all, we enjoy getting things done — running and participating in several planned fundraising and community supporting events annually.
We raise about £30,000 annually and these funds are distributed to local causes ranging from individuals, clubs and organisations to local and national charities, as well as global projects, such as polio elimination and disaster/emergency funding.
If you would like to give something back to your local community, nationally or globally Rotary can give you the opportunity you have been waiting for.
We have produced a review of our activities for 2023-2024 which we invite you to download and learn even more about our club, its members, the charities we've supported and the activites we undertook to support them: Pangbourne_Rotary_Club_2023-2024.pdf
In just over three years we have gained over a dozen new members — not bad for a club which had about 30 members until recently. We must be doing something right as there are nine Clubs in the Reading area and 60 in our Thames Valley District to choose from.
Here are what some of our recent members say:
I joined as I wanted to give something back to society after I retired and to develop more interests and friendships. I wanted to do something as well as socialise and a friend introduced me to the club. It is an active, hard-working, friendly club who immediately welcomed me. I appreciate participating in the wide range of fund-raising events and the fact that the club does not take itself too seriously. In short, I do good, feel good for doing good and have a great deal of fun.
I had always known of the far-reaching effects of Rotary after I joined a vaccination trip to India and learnt how Rotary is working hard to eradicate Polio from the world. Having seen the good it can do for local, national and international causes, I decided I wanted to be a part of the action and do my bit.
Joining Pangbourne Rotary brought me into a community of like-minded yet diverse people wanting to do the right thing, what could be more appealing!?
I enjoyed the style of the meetings and the ethos of the club when I came along for a taster. I wanted to meet new people but to also give back to people locally, nationally and internationally through supporting events. The style of meetings with fellowship and speakers was also great.
I joined Rotary because giving money to charity and praying was not enough for me. Rotary gives me the opportunity to offer my time and my talents to serve our local communities and our world. I chose Rotary Pangbourne for many reasons, including the friendly environment, the organisation, the diversity, the fun and effective way of conducting our meetings and our working together.
