On March 8th, we held the Rotary Technology Tournament for students, hosted at Greenbank School in Southport. Very well supported by local schools and colleges with 15 teams entering. The task for them this year, was held over from 2023, which had to be cancelled due to a sudden snowfall, was to construct a coin sorting and counting device, using just the materials supplied, a mix of paper, card, wood, and assorted fixings. The youngest age group had to sort 2 different types of coin, the oldest had to sort 4 different types, and of course, the mid-age group had 3 types to sort. Every team created a device that worked to a high degree, and it was a very close run thing to decide the winning teams. So Congratulations to the 2 teams from Greenbank High School who won the Foundation and Intermediate levels, and the team from KGV Sixth Form College from Southport who took the trophy for the Advanced Level. Take a look at the photo album to see what went on.
