A Group Study Exchange team from District 1180 - North West England and North Wales
The team comprises of Team Leader Les Wilson (the Rotary Club of Maghull & Aughton) and team members Clare Robbins (the Rotary Club of Welshpool); Corin Hennessy (sponsored by the Rotary Club of Neston); Dawn Beech (sponsored by the Rotary Club of Denbigh) and Laura Selby (sponsored by the Rotary Club of Garston).
Rotary International D1180 comprises 2,000 members in 34 clubs in mid and North Wales and the borders, and 27 clubs in Chester, the Wirral, Merseyside, and Lancashire. Our oldest club, Liverpool, was chartered in 1913.
The district has two languages, English and Welsh, and a great depth of culture and history. The southern area is mainly rural, and contains the outstanding scenery of the Snowdonia National Park. It comprises mostly smaller towns; the main industries now are agriculture and tourism.
Alongside our Welsh clubs, we have two sited just over Offa's Dyke, which marks the border with England.
