Norman was born and brought up in St. Helens where he met his wife, Wendy, and in 1970 they moved to Southport. Norman was an engineer and ran his own plastics moulding company before retiring in 2000. One of his passions was golf and he was an active member of Southport Old Links Golf Club and also a member of the International Golfing Fellowship of Rotarians (IGFR). Often a prize winner, he was a good golfer and a difficult opponent to beat!
In 1998 Norman joined the Rotary Club of Southport Links and instantly became a very active member. Before accepting the nomination for President he was involved as chairman of the fund-raising committee and was always full of ideas. One that has stood the test of time is the Brass Band concert which is now in its eighth year and has become a cornerstone of the club's annual fund-raising activities.
In recognition of his commitment to Rotary and its ideals, Norman was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship in June of this year
