The Rotary Club of Tarring Park works alongside a number of local community groups and environmental organisations to improve and protect our environment.
Members take part in regular local litter pick events in Tarring Park organised by the Friends of Tarring Park and Worthing beach events organised by Surfers Against Sewage, Green Tides and Transition Town Worthing. These events help to keep our local area clean and tidy and reduce the harmful effects of drug litter and plastic pollution. They also provide valuable opportunities for public outreach and engagement.
Members of RCTP work with our local Tarring Flood Action group and are active "Adopt-A-Drain" volunteers who keep a watch on street drains and take action to clear them when blockages happen (due to litter, leaves or vegetation). This proactive work helps to reduce the risk of flooding in our local area and has made a noticeable impact on flooding events in recent years.
We are very active in supporting the Friends of Tarring Park in which RCTP members hold key committee posts. Working with this dedicated community-led group we liaise with local councillors and Adur & Worthing Council's Parks and Foreshores team. FoTP has developed a Management Plan for the Park which aims to improve the Park's facilities and environment and to protect it for the community in perpetuity by obtaining Village Green status. RCTP supports FoTP projects and goals by community action and fund-raising.
