( left to right) Blagdon scout Megan, Hugo Pike (Founder Chairman of Rotary charity Water Survival Box Ltd), Pip Riley ( scout leader with 1st Blagdon Scouts, and Sonia, who is a scout, and who is from Ukraine. The girls were manning the Christmas stall which was raising money for the Water Survival box scheme..

Hugo was able to update all that the  12th consignment of Water Survival Box humanitarian aid will be on its way to Ukraine in early December. This time it is in the form of 20 Community Water Filters, each of which will convert contaminated water into safe drinking water for some 500 people for several months. The Safe Water Trust has additionally donated 100 Family Water Filters and estimate that the complete consignment can meet the safe drinking water needs of some 10,000 people. The consignment is scheduled to reach Lviv by 10 December where it will be delivered to our regular contact, Borys Bodnar, a member of the Rotary Club of Ukraine Unity. In recent weeks the continuing Russian offensive has targeted the Ukraine power generation facilities which in turn directly affect the normal water supply. Using his network of Rotary Clubs Borys will then arrange distribution to those communities most in need.
