Chew Stoke Church School Raises money for Water Box Appeal
The children of Chew Stoke Church School recently showed their compassion and fundraising spirit by raising an amount of £255 for the Chelwood Bridge Rotary Club's water box appeal.
This they did by holding a non-uniform day, where students were encouraged to donate a small amount in exchange for wearing clothes other than their usual school uniform.
The fundraising wasn't just about fun and wearing non-uniform though. Mr Ken Biggs, a member of the Chelwood Bridge Rotary Club, visited the school for a special assembly. There, he spoke to the children about the important work of the Rotary Club and explained what water boxes are and how they can help people in need around the world.
Head teacher, Mr Ben Hewett, said : “Mr Biggs's informative talk helped the children understand the importance of clean water and the devastating impact disasters can have on access to this basic necessity.
“This money raised by our pupils will go a long way in helping the Rotary Club provide clean water to those who need it most. The school community is incredibly proud of the children's efforts and their commitment to making a difference in the world,” he added.
The Chelwood Bridge Rotary Club's Water Survival Box appeal provides much-needed clean water and survival equipment to communities affected by disasters around the world. These simple yet effective boxes can be filled with water purification tablets, which can turn contaminated water into safe drinking water.
