Presidents Night on Tuesday the 6th of June brought to an end the Presidency of Jim Farmer, the 2016/17 Chelwood Bridge Rotary Club President. The evening hosted at Cameley Lodge was a great success.
Good food, good service, good fellowship and by no means least a very entertaining speaker.
A big thank you Jim for the wine, and a splendid evening.
The Speaker for the evening was Vikki Batten, very well known in the SCUBA diving community as a leading light in Technical Diving and Instructor Training. Vikki who still works for the world’s largest diver training agency PADI focused her talk on her first visit to Russia and held the listeners captivated as she told us of her experiences evaluating would be Russian instructors in a remote location in Siberia. It was soon clear that Vikki was a very special person who used humour and personality to overcome any and all adversity. What a Great night
The award of, Paul Harris Fellow, to Doug Nash
Introduction from Jim.
“In my opinion several members are worthy of this award but I have decided to give it to someone who has reminded us as to why we joined this wonderful movement . This Rotarian, although a newer member has since joining been totally involved in local and International projects, in fact instigating several of these. He is involved in World Water Works, was one with quite a few others involved in organising John Butler’s conference, also instrumental in developing our first satellite club. During the course of the year has organised, I am sure you will agree, a varied and interesting programme.”
Congratulations Doug.
Annual Chelwood Bridge 9 hole Golf Competition.
A wet evening, lowest gross, (on count back) was Mike Hedges.
The winner of the shield was Doug Nash.
Dinner afterwards was in The Farrington Inn, enjoyed by all.
Guess who has to organise it next year?
Doug also won the bottle!!
