25 years on the Omega has taken in onthe canals of England.
He told us about the artificial watercourses and how they were used for transporting coal from the mines. also Wedgewood transported from Birmingham got china to destination without getting broken.
He spoke about canal engineers such as James Brindley and Thomas Telford. Also about Bridges roads aquaducts. By 1830 there was 4000 miles of canals, we now have 2000 miles left for leisure.
Locks, tunnels staircases all got a mention. But the railways obviously took over transportation.
Full of knowledge about canals, it was a really good listen.
