Sanitary Protection for Girls in The Gambia - £500 required
for Basse school
The Rotary Club of Cambridge Sawston is raising funds to ensure that the girls in Basse High School, in the remote eastern region of the Gambia, are provided with materials and the skills to sew reusable sanitary pads.
We now need an extra £500 to complete the order for materials which cost over £1400.
Through other charities they already have sewing machines and are currently being trained.
Over 3,000 pads will be produced and each of the 630 girls in the school will be given 5 pads which should last up to 5 years.
In order for this to be sustainable, the girls and boys will sew pads and other items for sale which will fund material for future years.
Your donation will go directly to fund the materials 100% - everyone is doing this voluntarily.
