Bryan Hardwick Fearn
Rotary Club of North Fylde
It is with great sadness that we record the death of Past President Bryan Fearn who passed away on 25th January 2023, age of 78 at the family holiday home in France. He leaves his wife Linda, children Simon, Andrew, Meghan and five grandchildren.
Bryan grew up in Heath, Derbyshire. He attended the local Grammar School before studying Pharmacology at Sunderland University. Following graduation he worked for Boots the Chemists in various branches throughout the country. He opened his first pharmacy in Blackpool before moving to Fleetwood, where he remained until retirement.
Bryan was always a keen sportsman and car enthusiast. In his younger days he played rugby and cricket. He owned a classic Morgan for forty years and was an active member and Treasurer of the North-West Morgan Owners Club. Gardening was a major interest of both Bryan and Linda. They kept a magnificent large garden at their home in Little Poulton. Bryan was a long serving member of Knott End Golf Club where he was a popular, active member who, in spite of having both hips and one knee replaced, still managed to play regularly.
A former member of Blackpool North Round Table, Bryan joined the Rotary Club of North Fylde in 1990 he was twice President of the club and over the years was chairman of many of the club committees. As a keen and active member, he and his wife would generously open their home and gardens for Rotary events. Bryan organised the club’s involvement in Group Study Exchanges and the family regularly hosted the students coming to the UK. Bryan and Linda regularly attended the EuRotary’87 events throughout Europe.
Bryan will long be remembered as a gentleman with a wicked, dry sense of humour. His generosity and a constant willingness to help others were always present. He is a great loss to his family and friends and to the members of the Rotary Club of North Fylde.
