The Community Committee is chaired by Ron Phelps, ably assisted by a team of experienced Rotarians, plus a couple of new Rotarians.
The Rotary slogan "Service above Self" is particularly relevant to this committee.
We aim to reach out in our local village and surrounding areas, and provide support and assistance to enrich the lifestyle of the residents in whatever way we can.
The committee is particularly involved in local events which have a community aspect. This was relevant in the 'celebrations' of the World War 1 centenary in Cookham. Rotary provided significant help on the 'Poppy Trail' which identified and commemorated the homes of those who fell in the conflict.
Christmas is an active time for the Club and the committee who have a long-standing connection with Bourne End fun-night, and more recently Cookham Street Fair. Rotarians were out in force at both these events in 2018 and previous years.
An active role has been taken in recognising the need for support for local charities providing assistance to those closely involved with dementia, particularly Alzheimers disease, this is an ongoing project.
The committee is proud to be part of an established interactive Rotary Club, and stand alongside colleagues and friends in serving th e community.
