Minibus donation
The Denby Dale Center Valleys Community Transport provides a community group, social group or school can hire an accessible minibus with or without a driver. Especially suitable for groups with disabilities or chronic illnesses. Weekly trips to the supermarket and regular trips to the theatre, cinema and days out provide a vital link within the community in the country side. Rotary itself uses the bus for Kids Out transportation.
The Centre had been collecting funds for a new minibus and Rotary wish to support this in our local community. Users during the year have included rural youth groups and scouts who depend on charity transport in an isolated and cut off area of the community. Nearby Shelley Strollers is a healthy lifestyle group who use the transport to get to popular walking destinations.
The austerity cuts hits the rural community badly – bus routes reduced or lost altogether at night
Other youth groups include the nearby Penistone Gateway in South Yorkshire who transport 11-year-old to 18-year-old children (both disabled and non-disabled) to community activities in their local area. St Aidens School and Castle Hill special needs schools use these vehicles to maintain safe transport and a good quality of life for their students.
