The Hungerford Rotary Club Presidential handover from Bruce Mayhew to Myles Young took place recently in Hungerford.
Bruce has been President of Hungerford Rotary Club for the last year and is the second time he has taken on the role in the last 10 years. Myles Young has now taken over from Bruce with his President Elect, Llewellyn Robins.
The new President congratulated Bruce for his successful year in office with the club raising over ten thousand pounds for both local, national and international good causes. Also in Bruce’s year the club gained 3 new members.
Myles outlined his year to the members and said that he was hoping for a good balance of fellowship, fun and fundraising where the members enjoy the company and also put something back into the community. As well as the regular meetings at the Bear Hotel, Myles was planning visits for the members to interesting venues in the area. For the fundraising he intended to continue to run the Bridge afternoon at the Croft, The annual Plant Sale at the Croft and the very successful Classic Vehicle Show at the Rugby field, which Myles introduced for the first time this year.
He is also planning fundraising entertainment evenings for local people to enjoy and also the Christmas Sleigh will be making its another appearance taking Santa around Hungerford for the delight of the children. Also around the Christmas period Hungerford Rotary Club will be organising a Santa Fun Run to raise funds for good causes.
The new President said that he was looking forward to a very busy and productive year.
