Donation to Prior's Court School
Hungerford Rotary Club has donated hand tools and gardening equipment to help the young people of Priors Court to tend trees in the new apple orchard which was planted, earlier in the year, with the help of a team from Microsoft.
Prior's Court has developed a specialist approach for supporting young people with severe autism, which enables them to reach their full potential and horticulture is an important part of life at Prior's Court. It helps improve social and communication skills as well as enhancing the fine motor skills of their young people. This also provides invaluable vocational work experience for the young adults, something the school is very passionate about. It is hoped that when the trees are mature, in a couple of year’s time, they will harvest them and create their own apple juice.
