Over 200 children took part in the Hungerford area Schools' Tag Rugby day on Friday 15th March.
Hungerford Rotary Club sponsors and provides pitch mangers for this annual event which takes place at Hungerford Town Rugby Club. The money donated by the Rotary club helped to provide medals for each child that took part and the managers helped to ensure the right teams were in the right place at the right time. This day is for primary school children in years 3 to 6 and there were 2 teams from each of 10 local primary schools playing short 6-minute games on 8 pitches.. The matches saw some very enthusiastic players trying their skills at this non contact version of the game.
The action shots above show Inkpen (red) vs Chaddleworth and Shefford (red&black stripes). Another picture which shows what tag rugby is all about. The boy from Inkpen with the ball (red) has just been "tagged" by the girl from Chaddleworth and Shefford (red&black stripes) - doesn't she look pleased with herself!
Our
President Elect, Mike Gilbert presented medals to all the children who participated in the tournament.
An excellent day was enjoyed by all the children and the helpers!
