At our club meeting yesterday evening, we were pleased to host John Wright, a Darlington Rotarian and Aquabox Ambassador, who demonstrated the Aquabox water filter system to us and also spoke about the work of Aquabox internationally.
It was an interesting and educational evening and highlighted again to us why Aquabox is such an important charity and one that we are pleased to support. Pictured here is Rotarian Bob Gray (l) presenting a cheque for £300 on behalf of the club to John, in support of the ongoing Aquabox project work. This was made possible thanks to the generosity of all those who supported our recent Easter Tombola.
In addition to filter kits, Aquabox also send aid boxes wherever they're needed. Each Aqua-aid box contains a family filter, plus a range of items carefully selected to offer some relief to people living in extreme deprivation, such as basic tools, lighting, survival aids, cooking equipment, eating and drinking, educational aids and hygiene provisions. This is not a random selection: the charity liaises regularly with their partners ‘on the ground’ in refugee camps and disaster areas, so that the items that go in the Aqua-aid box are those things they tell us are most needed.
