Following the awarding of a Rotary Foundation Grant of £500 that was matched by Rotary Ponteland and member donations, the club was able to transfer £1120 (~88500 Philippine peso) to Palumlum Elementrary School in Alfonso Cavite in the Philippines to assit with some improvements to school building.
Rotary Ponteland was twinned with the local Rotary Club in Tagaytay City in April and under the guidance of President Elect Midred Bernado will oversee the refurbishment project at the school, Rotary Ponteland Past President Archie McGlynn has also visited the school to meet the head teacher, Leah Vicedo staff and pupils and will make a return visit in October as part of a business trip to Hong Kong.
Rotary Ponteland have a long history of supporting local and international projects and this was a key project to mark the 60th Anniversary of the Club in September 2024. This project embraces the essence of Rotary which aims to develop friendships and to help and support charities and organisations worldwide.
